Reprinted from a dance magazine......
“Early in May, I was sitting watching my daughters final dance performance.
She graduates next Wednesday from Middle School.  I watched a group of girls go from stiff, unsure, and uncoordinated children in elementary school, develop into graceful, elegant and self assured young ladies. It made me think back to my years of dance training.

Sometimes we get so caught up in the auditions and pie in the sky goals, that we miss the real event happening. Dance, no matter how long you take it for, changes you for life. It changes the way you move, the way your muscles develop, but more importantly it changes the way you feel.  I can't tell you how often I wish my body would still co-operate and I could still dance. There are times my muscles "itch" to move.  If you have graduated from dance this past month, or your child has, congratulations. The education you or they have just received will stay with you for the rest of your life. If you are like me, you will often look back on your dancing years as some of the best. I miss the comfort that the routine of class offers. The walk of a dancer, or former dancer is enchanting, and the skills you have learned will carry you through the rest of your life. Even if you think this is the end of your dance education, it isn't. You will always have that "itch".. so don't ignore it. You are never too old, your muscles will remember, and they will silently sing for joy when you invite them to participate in the dance again."
